The Anatomy of the Jaw
The JX1 design process started with the human jaw. Jackal Jaw's team mapped the geometry of the mandible, identified the failure points of the traditional chin strap design, and built an anatomical platform that solves multiple problems with one product.
The result is a contoured ergonomic structure with no seams, no harsh stitching surfaces, and none of the low-quality materials that make traditional straps so uncomfortable and ineffective that players choose to wear them incorrectly — or not on their chins at all.
The Material Science Process
We sourced and tested every material we could find. It took time to zero in on exactly what players needed. The materials had to be soft-to-the-touch, force mitigating, able to be micro-textured and supplemented with antimicrobial additives. Ensuring each of these characteristics was properly monitored led to the prototyping and testing stage in order to find the right density profiles for the JX1. The result was a highly protective, durable, and flexible material profile that did not sacrifice any of the characteristics we set out to provide. The JX1 remained unchanged through repeated high-intensity impacts while the interaction between the material and the skin provided comfort that lasts.

Temperature neutrality was also addressed. The JX1's material properties allow for a lower thermal index — meaning our materials provide a more stable temperature range across all weather conditions, whether playing in early spring cold or late summer heat.
The Airflow & Moisture Release Design: Skin Irritation Reduction
One of the major design pillars of the JX1 was moisture management. Which we then split it into two separate problems that needed to be solved. One, the blockage of airflow to the chin, and two, the release of built up moisture. By maximizing the amount of open-air perforations to the front and bottom of chin itself, the JX1 allows for constant moisture evaporation to occur during play. Then, by creating drainage columns at the base of the chin pad and vent plate, water and sweat can easily flow out and away from the skin and off the JX1, helped by the constant movement of the player. Continuous moisture release during play reduces harsh heat friction between the material and the skin, which can be a major factor in abating acne mechanica.
